Sunday Blogvotional: Spirit of Power

Do you ever feel intimidated and discouraged? It’s not just the everyday tasks that life calls us to do but it spills over into the things that God has called us to do. Have you ever battled with the belief that you don't have the talent or the resources to complete the things God has asked of you?  The negativity creeps in oh so subtly.  In the back of our minds we're pretty sure who and what is causing this conflict inside of us.  It most assuredly is the one bent on destroying us and any others who will listen to him.

The spirit of fear and failure are not from God.  In contrast, God chooses to provide our needs and to build us up.  He gives us courage.  His spirit strengthens us with love and power. He sent his son to die for us that we might be in heaven with Him. Of course He is going to help us overcome our obstacles. Like Paul, let us press on to the goal God has set before me with that foundation.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.
1 Timothy 1:7

Encouragement for the week:  Don't listen to the negative words.  They are not from God.  Do not fear - God is with you always.  Memorize 1 Timothy 1:7.  When you get intimidated and discouraged say this verse aloud!  It will give you strength.
